During Drop-Down Day, all of Year 9 participated in the E-Sports Challenge, led by the Inspirational Learning Group as part of the National Careers Challenge
Working in teams, students looked at all aspects of creating, designing and launching a new computer games concept.
Students identified a target market before developing an idea for a brand new, downloadable computer game. They considered all aspects of their game design, including characterisation, game play, cyber-security and add-ons before considering how they would promote their new game to their target audience. Students also had to think about how they could capitalise on the growing appeal of Esports events to raise the profile of their game.
The challenge helped students to develop their entrepreneurial and digital skills as well as promoting key skills such as creativity, teamwork and communication.
Then it was time to present their ideas. We were fortunate to be joined by Matthew Beckett from EA Sport, and Mandy Mann from BBC Asian Network who both gave up their time to help judge and support the day.
The winning team, ‘The Invasion Of Mother Earth’ also known as Megan Roper, Olivia Langford, Jack Horrocks, Reece Sharman, Jakub Kucharski and Reece Fletcher will be battling it out at the live national finals at the NIA on 7th July 2022. Good Luck!
