Jo Goodman
CHAIR OF GOVERNORS & SAFEGUARDING GOVERNOR
I’m Jo and I am currently the Regional Delivery Lead for the West Midlands at the Education Endowment Foundation. Through this role, I work closely with schools and regional system leaders to support the mobilisation of evidence in order to improve outcomes for all pupils. Prior to this, I worked at the University of Wolverhampton, supporting activity to increase progression to higher education. I am extremely passionate about education and as Chair of Governors, I am keen to ensure that all pupils at Gospel Oak School receive high quality teaching and are equipped to succeed in school and beyond.
Ian Carey
TRUST GOVERNOR
I am really excited to be joining the board of the Gospel Oak School Tipton at this stage of the school’s journey.
I currently work for Black Country Consortium Ltd as the head of the County Sport Partnership for the Black Country with accountability for providing the strategic leadership for sport & physical activity across the areas of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
I act as a leading advocate for the integration of sport and physical activity into shared regional agendas and support the social and economic development of the Black Country. I have good experience of working across private and public sectors organisations and have developed key relationships across Public Health, Regeneration, Employment and Skills and Transport.
Fundamental to my approach is my lifelong belief that sport and physical activity can enrich and enable young people’s lives. Having realised many of the benefits sport provides myself gives me the drive and passion to share and shape opportunities for others to do the same.
I am looking forward seeing the school continue to progress and give pupils the experience, knowledge and confidence that will help them to succeed in their chosen field.
I am extremely excited to have joined the Local Academy Governing Board at Gospel Oak School and I am looking forward to working with pupils, parents and staff at the school to ensure the best possible learning for young people.
I am currently a Senior Partnership Officer at the University of Wolverhampton for Aspire to HE, which is a government funded project aiming to increase the number of young people from the Black Country progressing into Higher Education. As the first in my family to go to university, I am extremely passionate about ensuring all young people fulfil their potential and have access to opportunities that allow them to make ambitious decisions.
Outside of work I love West Bromwich Albion, drawing and I am currently studying for a Master’s in Education with the Open University.
Nick Whitehouse
STAFF GOVERNOR
I’m Nick and I am the staff governor for Gospel Oak School. I am relatively new to the Governing Board, but have worked at Gospel Oak School teaching History and Geography since 2019. This has given me a wealth of knowledge on the school’s workings and the community around it. A community which is so important to its success.
I have particular interest in teaching and learning and staff development ensuring that all members of the school have the tools and skills available to deliver their best, inside and outside the classroom, so that our young people get the best experience possible at Gospel Oak.

Hello my name is Rachel and this is my first term as a Parent Governor at Gospel Oak.
I have worked in schools for the last 20 years, have 2 grown up children, plus 1 who is still in education. Due to this I feel I have an understanding for both staff, parents, and above all the children.
I'm looking forward to my time as a governor.
Rebecca Whitehouse
PARENT GOVERNOR
I’m Becky and I’m a Parent Governor at the school. I have 2 children of which the eldest attends Gospel Oak High School. As a local resident and member of the community I feel I have a part to play in ensuring the School is the best it can possibly be, not only for the current population of students, but also for future students and children in the community for many years to come.
With a career background in both People and Operational roles I will aim to offer guidance at a strategic level, challenge processes to drive improvement and have an honest an open relationship with the Leadership team of the school to support in making a difference.
